The urge for happiness is what unites us all as human beings. In some philosophical paths, it was believed if the body was tortured enough the spirit would soar free. These days it seems to be more common to believe if we beat ourselves up mentally enough we will finally change into that person we hope to be…
The practice of Metta or Lovingkindness allows us to move beyond this belief. This meditation practice guides us through the cultivation of love and compassion for all beings, starting with ourselves. Love for ourselves lays the foundation for genuine love of others. ALL others.
Join me for a 5-week meditation series that walks us through the traditional practice of Metta. No meditation experience is needed!
Week 1: We look into ourselves and what we most need to foster self-love and acceptance.
Week 2: We look to those we already love and explore offering genuine love without a loss of boundaries, co-dependency or a painful search for intimacy.
Week 3: We start to share our love with those we don’t know well but come into contact with - the grocery store clerk, the mail person, the barista at your favorite coffee shop.
Week 4: Now, we move into looking at our more difficult relationships - the ones that push our buttons, the ones that have hurt us or the ones we’ve ignored.
Week 5: The culmination! We extend love and compassion to all beings everywhere.
All levels welcome.
